Pastor Matthew Richard
Rev. Dr. Matthew Richard has been the pastor of Zion Lutheran Church since November 2013. He was previously a Senior Pastor in Sidney, Montana, an Associate Pastor in Williston, North Dakota, and an Associate Pastor in Rancho Cucamonga, California.
He received his undergraduate degree in Finance and Economics from Minot State University in North Dakota. After a short career working as an Investment Representative for a company of AIG, he moved to Minnesota to obtain his Master Divinity from Lutheran Brethren Seminary, MN. In 2005, a year after graduating from seminary, he was ordained into the ministry by the Church of the Lutheran Brethren of America. In 2013 he was certified for ministry in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Furthermore, in 2013 he obtained a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis MO. His doctor of ministry thesis was on exploring the journey of American Evangelicals into Confessional Lutheran thought.
Matt is married to Serenity and they have two children. He enjoys fishing, pheasant hunting, watching movies, blogging, golfing, spending time with his family, and a good book with a warm latte!
Tana McKenna, Parish Assistant
Tana McKenna has been the Parish Assistant at Zion Lutheran church since June 2014. She was previously an Office Coordinator at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City, ND. She has also held the positions of full time mom, daycare provider, chef, and para- educator at North Sargent Elementary School.
Tana received her undergraduate degree in Religion and Classical Studies from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.
Tana is married to Brian and they have two boys who are rapidly growing into young men. She enjoys watching her boys play baseball, basketball, and soccer, camping, fishing, gardening, cooking for those hungry boys, and relaxing with a good book.
